Christmas Recipes - Bee Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 oz margarine

  • 5 oz caster sugar

  • 4 medium size eggs

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 4 1/2 oz flour

  • 1/2 tin condensed milk

  • 6 oz water

Serves 6-8


Method:

  1. Fry the sugar (preferably in a non-stick pan) over very slow fire till it slightly brown.

  2. Add 6 oz water and let sugar dissolve into syrup. Let it cool.

  3. Sieve flour together with 1 tsp baking powder twice, and set it aside. Whip margarine and milk till creamy.

  4. Add eggs, one at a time, till well mixed, pour and sprinkle flour into whipped margarine and milk. Stir well in one direction with a wooden spoon.

  5. Add cool syrup. Stir again and put into a deep baking tray.

  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in moderate heat till it turn springy to the touch.

  7. Texture of cake should be like honey comb.
