Christmas Recipes - Port Sausage Strata Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500 g pork sausages, each cut into four

  • 1 tsp mixed herbs

  • 6 slices white bread, cut into 2 triangles each

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 green pepper, chopped

  • 410 g tin tomato and mushroom soup

  • 1 tbsp mustard

Serves 4


Method:

  1. Using a flameproof casserole, fry sausage pieces in their own fat until golden.

  2. Add onion and green pepper and sauté until tender. Add herbs, stir in soup and heat through.

  3. Spread bread slices with 1 butter on both sides.

  4. Arrange 1 triangles on top of casserole and bake at 170 C for about 20 minutes until topping is brown and crisp.

  5. If necessary grill towards end of cooking time.
