Baked Bananas with
Chocolate Fudge Sauce Recipe

firm bananas,
skins left on
1
tablespoon lemon juice
lightly whipped cream or
vanilla ice cream, to serve
Sauce:
100 ml/3 1/2 fl oz
double cream
125 g/4 oz plain
dark chocolate, broken into pieces
25 g/1 oz unsalted
butter
125 g/4 oz golden
syrup
Method:
Place the bananas
in a shallow ovenproof dish.
Brush the skins with the
lemon
juice and bake
in a preheated oven, 180°C (350°F), Gas Mark 4, for 20
minutes or until the
bananas
have darkened in color
and
feel soft.
Meanwhile, make
the
sauce.
Put the
cream, chocolate, butter and golden syrup into a small,
heavy based
saucepan.
Heat gently, stirring frequently, until the chocolate
has melted. Bring to the boil and boil for 2 minutes
until thickened slightly.
Transfer the
bananas
to warmed serving plates. Split lengthways to reveal the
flesh. Top with cream or ice cream and serve with the
hot sauce.
