Farmhouse Pizza Recipe

 

Ingredients

  • 90ml/6 tbsp olive oil

  • 225g/8 oz button mushrooms, sliced

  • 2 quantities Basic Pizza Dough

  • 1 jar ready-made tomato sauce or pizza topping

  • 300g/10 oz mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced

  • 115/4 oz wafer thin smoked ham slices

  • 6 bottled artichoke hearts in oil, drained and sliced

  • 50g/2 oz can anchovy fillets, drained and halved lengthways

  • 10 black olives, stoned and halved

  • 15ml/1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano

  • 15ml/3 tsp grated Parmesan cheese

  • ground black pepper

Serves 8


Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220C. In a large frying pan, heat 30ml/2 tbsp of the oil. Gently fry the mushrooms for 5 minutes until all the juices have evaporated. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.

  2. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to make a 30 x 25cm/12 x 10in rectangle. Transfer to a greased baking sheet, then push up the dough edges to form a thin rim. Brush with 30ml/2 tbsp of the oil.

  3. Spread the tomato sauce or pizza topping over the dough, then arrange the sliced mozzarella over the surface.

  4. Scrunch up the ham and arrange on top with the artichoke hearts, mushrooms and anchovies.

  5. Dot with the olives, then sprinkle over the oregano and Parmesan. Drizzle over the remaining oil and season to taste with pepper.

  6. Bake for about 25 minutes until crisp and golden. Serve immediately.
