Snacks and Light Meals Recipes - Spicy Beef Burgers Recipe

Ingredients

Serve 4-6

  • 1 kg/2 lb minced beef

  • 2 tablespoons green peppercorns

  • 1 tablespoon chopped thyme

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 teaspoons French mustard

  • salt 

To serve:

  • 8 burger buns

  • 8 lettuce leaves selection of relishes

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 4 tomatoes, sliced


Method:

  1. Put the beef in a bowl and season well with salt. Stir in the peppercorns, thyme, Worcestershire sauce and mustard; mix well. Divide into 8 portions and form into flat patties.

  2. Cook under a preheated moderate grill, or on a barbecue grid 10 cm/4 inches above the coals, for 3-5 minutes each side, according to taste.

  3. Cut the buns in half and toast the cut sides. Arrange a lettuce leaf on each bun base, top with a burger and relish.

  4. Arrange onion and tomato slices on top and  replace the bun lid. Serve immediately.
